Troy Ficklin
Troy Ficklin, a 56-year-old husband, father, and grandfather, was living an active life working full-time in a laboratory when a traumatic brain injury (TBI) abruptly changed everything.
Following several complications and a series of hospitalizations, Troy was admitted to Vibra Hospital of Richardson, a critical care hospital specializing in extended treatment for patients with complex medical needs. Upon admission, Troy was fully dependent on others for daily care and had extensive medical needs. However, he had a clear goal: to regain the strength and function necessary to return home safely.
Throughout his stay at Vibra Hospital, Troy demonstrated extraordinary resilience. As his clinical condition improved, he began physical and occupational therapy. Under the guidance of his skilled therapy team, Troy steadily increased his strength, endurance, and upper body range of motion. He also made significant strides toward independence, becoming able to perform daily tasks, such as dressing, with only moderate assistance or supervision.
Troy’s motivation, along with the unwavering support of his family and Vibra’s dedicated care team, played a crucial role in his progress. Thanks to this combined effort, Troy was discharged to continue his journey at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, where he will undergo intensive therapy to further his recovery. His family eagerly anticipates the day he will return home.
We wish Troy all the best as he continues to recover!
